We are seeking to appoint a talented and experienced Research Fellow in numerical modelling of two-phase flows with phase change and suspended particle transport processes. The successful candidate will work in the Advanced Engineering Centre of University of Brighton alongside an Industrial Partner as well as another Academic Partner in the development and optimisation of an innovative green technology for oily sludge treatment in Maritime sector.

You will be experienced in CFD-based numerical modelling of multi-phase flows and particularly in the effective utilisation of OpenFOAM CFD Toolbox. A considerable publication track-record in numerical/mathematical modelling of multiphase flows will be a plus as well as prior interaction and engagement with academic and mainly industrial partners.

  • A postgraduate qualification/PhD or an equivalent level of professional experience in Engineering with preferable specialisation in the wider field of Hydraulics and Fluid Mechanics.
  • Sufficient, up-to-date breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the numerical modelling of multiphase flows, phase-change as well as suspended particle transport and interaction.
  • Sufficient, up-to-date breadth or depth of specialist knowledge of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes and evidence of commitment to engage in continuous professional development.
  • Considerable post-doctoral experience in CFD-based numerical modelling of multi-phase flows will be desirable.
  • A robust knowledge and a long-term experience in OpenFOAM CFD Toolbox with utilisation of High-Performance Computing facilities for parallel simulations.

This is a full-time, 4-month fixed-term position. In order to complete the full 4-month contract, you would need to be available to start no later than 1st December 2022, any delay in starting would reduce the length of the contract, as funding is limited to the end of March 2023.
