Research Fellow in international investment agreements and health

  • Part time 0.8FTE, 2 year fixed term
  • Exciting opportunity to support NHMRC funded research related to health policy and economic policy
  • Base Salary (pro-rata) $113,184 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

This position offers an opportunity to join a dynamic research team focused on multisectoral policy and public health. Our research programme is multi-disciplinary and action-oriented. We partner with researchers internationally on policy-relevant research and collaborative analyses to address urgent global health and nutrition challenges.

This position will be based within the Menzies Centre for Health Policy and Economics, which is known for high quality health policy research, analysis, advice and education. We focus on improving public health outcomes through policy innovation and practical implementation. The Centre has a particular interest in the policy conundrums posed by the growing challenge of chronic illness.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • lead collaborative mixed-methods policy analysis research related to international investment agreements and public health in a multidisciplinary research team
  • contribute to researcher development and capacity building activities
  • write academic papers and policy briefs
  • contribute to stakeholder and partner engagement in research and translation
  • contribute to a positive workplace culture in which diversity of thought, contribution, collaboration, excellence and achieving outcomes are valued and enabled.

About you

  • has a PhD relevant to health policy
  • has experience relevant to international investment agreements and public health
  • has experience using mixed-methods approaches to research (for example, documentary analysis, political economy analysis, and qualitative research)
  • has excellent writing skills and track record relevant to health policy and economic policy
  • has demonstrated experience with collaborative research in a multidisciplinary environment
  • is familiar with theories relevant to policy analysis
  • ability to work in a language other than English desirable
  • experience conducting multi-country research desirable.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
