We are looking for an ambitious Research Fellow in Human Factors to join our expanding, multidisciplinary team working on state-of-the-art diagnostics. We anticipate that the appointee will lead Human Factors evaluations of AI applications in diagnostics and implications for Clinical Decision Making. The appointee will investigate models of integration of such technologies within specific clinical pathways and consequences on clinical workflow and patient care. They will develop tools and methods of investigation to be generalised to other contexts of care. Dedicated time will be made available for this.
The appointee will have significant experience in Human Factors research and will be seeking to develop their career to become a leader in our research team. The successful candidate will undertake applied Human Factors research on a variety of healthcare projects using the core methodologies of the NIHR London In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) Co-op. These include assessing stakeholders needs, conducting systems analysis and process mapping and working closely with innovators, industry and clinicians to develop game-changing diagnostics. For example, these currently include AI applications in emergency medicine, breath tests for cancer and point of care tests for covid.
