About the School of Physics
The University of Melbourne’s School of Physics is one of Australia’s leading Physics Schools. It has achieved this status through the high quality of its research and teaching programs. The School offers a wide range of physics subjects to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and performs research in the following areas: Astrophysics, Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics, Experimental Condensed Matter Physics, Experimental Particle Physics, Materials Science, Physical Biosciences, Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics and Theoretical Particle Physics.
The School also plays a major role in the Australian Synchrotron research program, and in the development of the Stawell Underground Physics Laboratory.
About the Role
The Research Fellow will work within the University of Melbourne Node of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Dark Matter Particle Physics. The Centre is a national collaboration of physicists from across Australia, in partnership with key international researchers and institutions, to pursue the discovery and understanding of the nature of Dark Matter.
While expected to demonstrate initiative in conducting independent research to a high standard, the incumbent will be strongly encouraged to collaborate with theorists and experimentalists across the Centre and form research partnerships with industry stakeholders.
The position will be based at The University of Melbourne Parkville campus and work under the supervision of Melbourne Node Chief Investigators in the Centre’s Theory Program.

The Research Fellow will be a highly motivated and innovative researcher, who can work at an internationally competitive level, independently and as part of a team, on theoretical aspects of dark matter physics.
You will have research experience in theoretical particle or astroparticle physics, with a strong interest in dark matter phenomenology, and a demonstrated aptitude for research, with a sound publication record.
