NIHR Health Determinant Research Collaboration (HDRC) Research Fellow

We are seeking to appoint two research posts (Research Fellow and Research Associate) to work on an exciting, five-year project with Blackpool Council.

Led by Blackpool Council, the £5M NIHR funded Health Determinant Research Collaboration (HDRC) project seeks to understand what Blackpool Council and its partners can do to improve the overall health of the community.     Embedded within Blackpool, the project will develop a team of local researchers from diverse communities within Blackpool to work as part of the HDRC team, alongside staff from the Council, Lancaster University, Blackpool Teaching Hospital and community organisations.

Alongside the Research and Development Manager, this new Research Fellow post will lead the day to day work of the research team, comprising of a Research Associate, Research and Intelligence Officer and Research Data Analysist and play a key role within the project, and further enhance the work through development of future funding applications.

The post-holder will be a member of Lancaster University staff, based full time within Blackpool Council and will join us on an indefinite contract. However, the role remains contingent on external funding, which for this position is initially until 30th September 2027.

This post offers an exciting opportunity to play a leading role within a new, important project, benefitting from a unique range of personal and professional development opportunities, arising from being embedded within both a research-intensive university, and a Local Authority committed to developing its research strengths, with community co-researchers at the heart of the project, to improve the lives of its residents.

Both Blackpool Council and Lancaster University are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children/vulnerable adults, therefore this post is subject to Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.

We are committed to family-friendly and flexible working policies on an individual basis, as well as the Athena SWAN Charter, which recognizes and celebrates good employment practice undertaken to address gender equality in higher education and research. We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups.
