Research Fellow (Experimental Condensed Matter Physics)

Nanyang Technological University

We are seeking highly motivated Research Fellows for a recently awarded 3-year cross-institutional research programme on atomic-precision silicon quantum devices. The program seeks to develop atomic-scale silicon quantum electronics, to be used as components in spin-based silicon quantum computation.

The Research Fellow will develop scanning-probe based UHV fabrication and implement clean-room based nanofabrication (electron beam lithography, wet- and reactive ion etching, metal deposition, etc.). The work is directed towards implementing existing atomic-precision quantum device process flows towards the development of a spin-based quantum processor in silicon.

The candidate will work together with graduate research students and other members of our team to fabricate devices and document process recipes for our research towards building Si-based qubits. The candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in the electrical characterization of the devices, based on experience, including the setup of measurement protocols, data collection and analysis.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and fabrication of atomic precision Si devices

  • Develop cleanroom fabrication process recipes

  • Device characterization and measurements

  • Provide technical documentation and manuscript writing

  • Contribute in supervise graduate students

  • Contribute to or lead in grant writing depending on the level of experience

Job Requirements

  • PhD degree in Physics

  • Demonstrated track record of significant achievement in experimental condensed matter physics

  • Demonstrated experience with UHV STM

  • Laboratory experience in UHV techniques, and/or cleanroom processing, including device nanofabrication. Well-versed in lithography and etching techniques

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team

  • Resourceful in problem-solving and critical thinking

  • Meticulous and analytical in experimental work

  • Demonstrated ability to publish high-impact research publications

  • Good presentation skills (written and verbal)

We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
