Research Fellow (Epigenomics and Cancer Biology)

The Transcription and Chromatin Regulation in Cancer Lab, School of Biological Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore is recruiting an innovative Research Fellow to work with our diverse team of computational and molecular/cell biologists in the areas of cancer cell signalling, epigenomics and transcription regulation. Our laboratory is focused on elucidating the epigenetic mechanisms underscoring the activation of cancer driver genes (Nature Cell Biology 2015, 17: 1327-38; PNAS 2016, 113: 14402-07; Nature Communications 2018, 9: 3183).

Job Description:

• Investigate cancer-specific epigenomics signatures identified in clinical samples using a variety of genome editing and molecular biology methods

• Examine the biological functions of candidate cancer driver genes using a variety of in vitro and tumor xenograft or metastasis models

Job Requirements:

• A recent PhD graduate (or 1-2 years postdoc experience) in the relevant areas of molecular biology, cancer biology and gene regulation

• Extensive knowledge and experience in biochemistry, molecular biology and genomics work

• Possess prior experience in investigating cancer cell signalling pathways

• Demonstrate competence in CRISPR/Cas9 techniques and next-generation-sequencing methods including ChIP-seq, RNA-seq and chromosome conformation capture assays

• A background in computational biology is a plus but not essential

• Strong publication track record, indicated by first author publication(s) in high quality journals

• Ability to write/contribute to research articles, grants and keep meticulous notes/proper scientific documentation

• Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, written and oral communication skills;

• A strong team focus and ability to work independently

• A demonstrated ability to supervise PhD students and junior research staff
