Job Description

We are looking for a highly talented and motivated candidate to design and realise safe high-performance solid-state batteries using humid-air stable sulphide solid electrolytes. The focus will be on designing composites of the inorganic solid electrolytes with polymers that retain the high conductivity of the materials, allow for low-cost thin film preparation and yield stable interfaces with electrode materials to achieve solid-state batteries with enhanced rate performance and capacity retention. Key tasks for the Research Fellow in this project will be to cooperate with team members for an effective scalable synthesis, advanced structural and electrochemical characterisation, lead the optimisation of cathode composites and their interfaces with the electrolyte, and integrate the components to high performance all-solid state batteries.

The position will be open from 1 April 2023 for two years. 


  • PhD in Materials Science or a related disciplines. 
  • Experience in synthesis and characterisation of battery materials is required. 
  • Experience in solid electrolytes is desired.
  • Experience in computational materials design is helpful
  • Basic knowledge in impedance spectroscopy, solid state NMR and XRD is desired 
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary, international teams.
