The Opportunity

The Research Fellow will contribute towards the development of advanced heterogeneous catalysts for the upgrading of bio-oil. The role will conduct experiments for the testing of catalysts and will develop reaction mechanisms and kinetic models for the catalytic reactions. 

The Research Fellow will conduct research under limited supervision and will contribute towards the production of conference papers and publications of the research. The role will develop a limited amount of research-related material for teaching and will occasionally contribute to teaching in relation to their research project. The Research Fellow will engage in experimental design and provide advice within the field to postgraduate students. 

The successful candidate will have doctoral qualifications in chemical engineering or bioprocessing disciplines, in particular the catalysis area. Demonstrated analytical and manuscript preparation skills and a track record in the heterogeneous catalysis area for bio-oil upgrading or catalytic pyrolysis is required for success in this role. The successful candidate will have demonstrated skills for the characterisation of catalysts upon the use of bench-top facilities, strong communication skills and the ability to solve complex problems using discretion.  

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
