Research Fellow (Bioscience/Chemical/Biological/Environmental Engineering)

Job Description

The research is on transforming food waste into digestates containing active biomolecules to enhance vegetable growth. Utilizing anaerobic digestion, we aim to recover essential nutrients such as N, P and K from food waste and integrate them into waste-derived hydrogel/biochar for optimal vegetable cultivation, thereby closing the waste loop in farming practices.

The specific aims are:

To release nutrients from food waste through anaerobic digestion and optimize the co-digestion process with waste-derived hydrogels.

To recover nutrients from the digestate to produce a novel biofertilizer.

To develop a prototype of an integrated food waste nutrient recovery system for pilot-scale testing.

Qualifications

Possess a PhD degree in bioscience, chemical/ biological/ environmental engineering, or other related fields.
Prepare reports and presentations regularly.
Publications in the relevant work.
Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
