Research Fellow, Biological Sciences

Job Description

We seek a highly motivated and self-initiated applicant with a background in life sciences/molecular biology and preferably experience working with environmental and plant related microbiomes. The position is within a multi-disciplinary research team, which broadly pursues microbial diversity and physiological investigations and plant holobionts. The team consists of Post-doctoral fellows, PhDs and other Research Assistants. The full-time research fellow will be expected to participate in ongoing research projects and oversee daily operation of the lab. Projects in the lab utilize the following techniques: field water and sediment sampling, next-generation sequencing and genotyping, microscopy, flow cytometry, advanced computations and cell sorting and metabolomics.

Qualifications

• Qualifications / Discipline: Applicant should have a doctoral degree in life sciences/ molecular biology/ plant biology or related fields.
• Skills: Specialization either in plant and/or soil sciences and/or microbiology preferably including –omics approaches
• Experience: 1-2 years of relevant post-doctoral research experience using advanced molecular biology and advanced bioinformatics methods, as well as familiarity with culturing microorganisms. Experience with PCR, cloning, and other nucleic acid or metabolites manipulation is preferable. Applicant should demonstrate his scientific abilities through peer reviewed research articles in international journals and conference proceedings.
