Job Description:
The School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (EEECS) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Research Assistant or Research Fellow on the EPSRC-funded research project “Asynchronous Scientific Continuous Computations Exploiting Disaggregation (ASCCED)”. The ideal candidate has a track record in the areas of high-performance computing, runtime systems design and implementation, and performance analysis and optimisation.
Funded through the EPSRC New Horizons High-Risk and Speculative Engineering and ICT Research call, ASCCED investigates novel programming models for high-performance and distributed computing. It aims to enable extreme scalability, adjust to hardware heterogeneity and apply across granularities of parallelism through a single programming model. ASCCED will explore concepts of parallel discrete event simulation in combination with online accuracy assessment and provide a proof-of-concept demonstration of its efficacy for multi-physics simulations.
The post is a critical role, pursuing an ambitious and highly speculative research direction, and as such, successful applicants will be productive and ambitious collaborative team members and will have responsibilities in independent research, and planning of the research activity.

This post is fixed term for 20 months, or available until 30 September 2024, whichever is sooner. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
