Research Fellow

The School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work (SSESW) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Research Fellow. The successful applicant will be an active member of the School of Social Sciences Education and Social Work (SSESW) and the ADRC NI, assisting in quantitative data analysis of secondary datasets and preparation of papers for publication across a range of education related projects.

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have: 

  • An upper second-class honours degree (or equivalent) or a Masters degree in social science or education.
  • Have or be about to obtain a PhD in a relevant subject.
  • At least two years’ quantitative research experience working on a project that relates to education and social inequalities.
  • Experience in planning and conducting advanced quantitative data analysis, using SPSS and/or Stata.
  • Good understanding of the key issues and challenges associated with accessing and analysing secondary data.
  • Ability to develop a high-quality publication record that is REF returnable.
  • Experience of communicating research to lay audiences.

This is a fixed term post for 3 years.  Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
