About This Opportunity  

The position will contribute to existing research projects and to develop, undertake and manage new research to advance the First Nations Cancer and Wellbeing Research (FNCWR) program. This includes but is not limited to preparation of funding submissions, building the program’s output of scholarly publications and building the capacity and capabilities of junior staff and students. The position provides the opportunity to the incumbent to work on projects utilising larger datasets (i.e., linked administrative health service data) to enhance their research/analytical skills, research network and build on their Indigenous Health research experience.

The Research Fellow will engage in research to further their expertise and growing research profile to achieve national recognition in their discipline.  At this level it is expected that the position will efficiently manage service and engagement roles and activities.

About You   

  • Completion of a PhD in a relevant discipline area.

  • A growing profile in research in the discipline area.

  • In-depth understanding of quantitative research methodologies.

  • Demonstrated experience and advanced skills in complex and larger/linked data management (i.e., hospital admissions records, cancer registry data, mortality data), and analysis using statistical software (i.e., R, SAS, STATA).

  • Experience in problem-solving and connecting analysis and insights to address research questions. 

  • A developing reputation and track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.

  • Evidence of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding.

  • A growing record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.

  • Experience in meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with active contributions to external activities.

What We Can Offer  

This is a full-time (100%), 3 year, fixed-term position at Academic Level B. 

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $101,533.66 to $120,570.86 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $118,794.38 to $141,067.91 per annum.
