The School of Media and Communication invites applications for a Research Fellow. For the period 1 September 2022 to 31 August 2027, you will support project activity for INCLUDE+ (Inclusive Digital Economy Network+), a research network+ funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), awarded to Dr Helen Thornham. This is full time ongoing role, and from September 2027, you will you will transition to working fully within the School..

You will engage in collaborative and digital participatory activities, undertake your own research, and engage in the wider projects and activities of the Network+. You will be a digital practitioner, artist or creative who has demonstrable interest in tackling inequality. You will be expected to engage with communities, build technological responses to community identified issues and collaborate with a highly interdisciplinary team comprising AI and ethics scholars, physical computing, sociology, digital methods, and business studies. The post offers direct engagement in high quality, international research and networks within the UK and Europe.

You will have practical experience of digital methods, digital practice and/or physical computing with a strong interest in tackling inequalities’ and injustice. Your PhD thesis must have been submitted for examination by the time you apply for you to be considered eligible for the role. Experience in data collection and analysis with the ability to investigate emerging issues, including international dimensions is essential.
