We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to work on the AVACTA behavioural science work package led by Dr Gillian Shorter and Dr Laura Sahm at University College Cork. The post holder will be part of the All-island Vaccine Research and Training Alliance (AVACTA) project which links infection, immunology, pharmacy, psychology, and related expertise to design and develop better vaccines to prevent difficult to treat bacterial infections and improve their uptake.
The AVACTA behavioural science work package aims to develop tailored interventions to address vaccine uptake and develop a set of implementable guidelines to aid health authorities. This includes identifying/mapping determinants of vaccine uptake; prioritising existing interventions; identifying behaviour-based determinants; tailoring interventions to those who would benefit; and training/support in behaviour change. The post holder will explore how individuals’ capabilities, opportunities, and motivations influence their decision-making behaviour, and how the setting affects vaccine confidence and use. Successful application of behaviour change theory and intervention mapping will be central to work package, and wider project success.
The post holder will work with partners in the work package and liaise with researchers across AVACTA to ensure research plans, outcomes, and outputs are co-developed, collaborative, and are cross-cutting. The successful candidate will also be involved in the supervision of PhD students in the work package and will be supported to develop their skills and leadership in behaviour change.
The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have:
