Research Engineer I (Computer Engineering/Computer Science/Electronics Engineering)

The S-Lab for Advanced Intelligence invites applications for the position of Research Engineer I. 

S-Lab for Advanced Intelligence, established in 2020, is a university laboratory at NTU focusing on research and development of cutting-edge AI technologies in computer vision, natural language processing, reinforcement learning, deep learning, and distributed computing. We aim to create impactful applications spanning various strategic areas in partnership with academic, industry, and government organizations.

We are seeking research engineers to join a university-level research centre collaborating with industry. The position is for one year, renewable subject to satisfactory performance. Successful candidates will be involved in a project that is related to human-object interaction.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Collect data requirement, design collection scripts, and perform data collection during the algorithm’s implementation;
• Manage and organize collected data, use relevant tools including python to perform data analysis;
• Support the installation and testing of multiple hardware devices;
• Involved in providing project support and maintenance of implementation.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or equivalent;
• Candidate with a Bachelor’s degree from a non-computer science-related field but with relevant work experience will also be considered;
• Good skillsets with Linux operating system and data processing;
• Familiar with python/java/cpp or other scripts language.

Additional criteria:

• Candidate with data engineering-related working or internship experience is highly preferred;
• Strong communication skills and a team player with the ability to work cross functionally and to work with all levels of staff;
• Independent, a self-starter, and have a positive attitude towards learning business, operation, and industry concepts;
• Good command of English, both oral and written along with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individual and professional groups.
