Job Description
Under the direction of the Director/PI, the Research Data Manager will provide leadership to the research unit in data management activities, including developing and managing processes that support protocol and data dictionary development, storage, quality control, cleaning, analyses, visualization, sharing and overall management of research datasets to ensure the research team meets sponsor requirements to publish research data. Further, the Research Data Manager will support all research and evaluation activities of the research unit, including development of the research design, data collection, processing, management, analysis, and dissemination. This position works with the investigator team to organize dissemination strategies and provide data visualizations for a variety of audiences through a variety of methods. This position builds capacity in performance and impact measurement for the team and its partners.

Essential Duties
The Research Data Manager develops and applies informatics methods, approaches, and processes to innovate and refine how data are collected, organized, curated and made accessible to diverse communities of consumers. This position develops and enhances systems, platforms and infrastructure needed to discover, filter, manipulate, analyze, and share datasets. This position collaborates with other research professionals and students to share and grow research data management skills through a community of practice. Communicates with research colleagues to improve the usability, access, long-term storage, manipulation, and integration of datasets across multiple projects. Supports Data Management Plan (DMP) preparation in conjunction with investigators as part of the research process. This position will help ensure project deliverables are met and sponsor reports are prepared on time. The Research Data Manager will help maintain IRB materials and study protocols.
- Develop (design, build, and test) electronic data capture databases for studies
- Generate and maintain participant tracking databases and reports
- Manage and update study databases
- Write reports and queries for data validation, cleaning and quality assurance
- Maintain data dictionaries for datasets
- Import data extracted from various sources and perform data cleaning using STATA or R
- Train study personnel on performing data entry and running reports using REDCap
- Develop standard analytical summary data files, produce descriptive reports, including tables and graphs.
- Oversee quality control procedures for data collection/analysis.
- Follow best practices for data management and maintaining data in a secure environment.
- Work collaboratively with data analysts/study coordinators/staff.
- Provide training and technical assistance to team members and partners, as relevant
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND two (2) years of relevant experience developing and using database technologies, data management and distribution, procedural programming for science (e.g., Matlab, R, SAS) and/or website interfacing in a research setting, OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

- Evidence of being bilingual written and oral fluency in English/Spanish.
- Experience in quantitative research methodologies and large-scale studies
- Experience in building datasets
- Experience in using REDCap and at least one statistical software, i.e., SAS, Stata, or R
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment, on multiple tasks, with short deadlines
Working Environment
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse
- Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
- Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
- Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions
