Reference no.: 2763We are currently seeking a Research Coordinator (Postdoc) to establish and coordinate the Research Network Health in Society, an interdisciplinary initiative at the University of Vienna that aims to foster excellent and socially relevant research addressing diverse and pressing issues in health, medicine, and well-being. Formally this position is attached to the research group Health Matters at the department of social and cultural anthropology, led by Prof. Dr. Janina Kehr.Within our working group, we place special emphasis on diversity (personal, content-related, and methodological), mutual appreciation, and support.The employment contract duration is 4 years, with the possibility of extension or tenure.Your personal sphere of influence:You will contribute to the establishment, coordination, and administration of the Research Network Health in Society. Additionally, you will conduct research on issues in health, medicine, and well-being, but priority will be given the coordination of the Research Network. This means:
- You will contribute to establishing, coordinating, and organizing the activities of the Research Network Health in Society.
- You will support and coordinate administrative tasks within the Research Network Health in Society.
- You will (co-)organize conferences, workshop, and related activities of the Research Network Health in Society.
- You will contribute to the networking of the Research Network Health in Society with relevant institutions in the field of health and medicine, as well exchange with the public sector and broader society.
- You will conduct participatory research and scientific studies on health, medicine and well-being as part of citizen science projects as part of the Research Network’s activities.
Your future tasks:The Research Coordinator is expected to organize and communicate about the activities of the Research Network in exchange with another Research Coordinator, the Research Network’s co-directors (Professors Janina Kehr and Robert Böhm), and its Steering Committee. This includes, for example, planning workshops and public engagement events, as well as the development of participatory structures for local and regional health research and events. By contributing to this effort, the Research Coordinator will help establish one of Austria’s largest health research and communication networks. In addition, there will be the possibility to conduct own research on issues in health, medicine, and well-being, particularly in the context of third-party funded research projects associated with the Research Network.This is part of your personality:
- You are interested in a career of research administration, and you are interested in contributing to the establishment and organization of an interdisciplinary research network.
- You are experienced in planning and organizing events (e.g., workshops, conferences).
- You have a PhD in social and cultural anthropology or related disciplines (e.g., Gender Studies, Sociology, Science and Technology Studies, International Development).
- Your research contributes to the field of health and well-being, ideally in one of the research group’s key areas of interest: Gender, justice, body, technologies, intersectionality.
- You have a high intrinsic motivation to contribute solving pressing challenges related to health and well-being and are familiar with the Austrian healthcare landscape and have professional networks in this field.
- You have excellent knowledge of qualitative methods and experience in inter- and transdisciplinary collaboration.
- You are cooperative, team oriented, reliable, and responsible.
- You have very good written and verbal communication skills in English and German.
