Job Description:

The Lastinger Center for Learning is an education innovation hub within UF’s College of Education focused on creating equitable education systems that improve teaching and learning across early childhood and K-12 education. Specifically, the Center targets kindergarten readiness, 3rd grade reading proficiency, and algebra proficiency as critical milestones in children’s educational trajectory that are predictive of success in school and life. The Center works at the nexus of research, practice, and policy to develop sustainable systems that leverage educational technologies and improve the implementation of research-based practices. Housed in one of the nation’s elite public research universities, the Center operates as a dynamic, entrepreneurial workplace focused on executing against UF’s service mission to strengthen the human condition and improve the quality of life.

Research and Evaluation:

  • Supports PI sponsored research and evaluation project(s).
  • Develops and analyzes research and evaluation activities and makes changes in methods and procedures as necessary.
  • Abstracts, collects, and/or synthesizes data from research and evaluation participants and enters information into the designated forms/database to comply with study protocols.
  • Participates in internal/external research and evaluation related conferences and investigator meetings to build and maintain relationships.
  • Assists in the recruitment and relationship building of participants, arranges study visits or activities, and provides instructions to meet the goals of the study or evaluation.
  • May coordinate multi-project studies or evaluations.

Reporting:

  • Prepares and maintains all Institutional Review Board (IRB) and regulatory paperwork to comply with institutional regulatory requirements as required.
  • Identifies and reports issues that may affect the accuracy and quality of study or evaluation design and implementation to meet study or evaluation aims.
  • Monitors or audits studies or evaluation projects.
  • Disseminates written and presented research and evaluation results to multiple audiences.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborates with research and evaluation staff, students, OPS, or other research and evaluation teams and/or other coordinators.
  • Works with external partners on research and evaluation activities.
  • Facilitates and/or runs research/project team meetings as needed.
  • Builds and maintains a broad network of professional relationships with participants, principal investigator, coinvestigators, study staff, and other collaborators to ensure successful research and evaluation collaborations.

Grants and Requests for Proposals (RFP):

  • Prepares grant and RFP narratives, budgets, and budget narratives.
  • Prepares, negotiates, and manages study or evaluation contracts.

Other duties as assigned.

Hybrid work location policy
Lastinger Center for Learning supports and promotes a healthy work-life balance. To achieve this, the Lastinger Center offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule that aligns with the university’s Flexibility in the Workplace Policy. Allowing employees to stagger arrival and departure times as necessary and to vary the number of workdays in the office so long as an employee’s FTE commitment is fulfilled within the university workweek. This policy also allows for occasional, incidental remote work based on individual circumstances.

Expected Salary:

$65,000-$72,900

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MA or Ph.D. in education, psychology, program evaluation, or related disciplines
  • Prior experience with program evaluation
  • Working knowledge of logic model and research plan development
  • Strong collaborative approach to working with internal and external partners
  • Experience with soliciting funding
  • Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative methodologies
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and writing skills
  • Willingness to learn new approaches and applications
