Research Compliance and Assurance Manager

In this pivotal role, you play a key part in developing the University’s research sponsorship capability. Joining our brand-new Research Governance and Compliance team you will focus on research governance support for patient and healthy volunteer research. You will ensure it is conducted and managed in line with our internal policy as well as relevant legal and regulatory frameworks such as Good Clinical Practice and study specific protocols.

About the role:

Reporting to the Head of Research Governance and Compliance and you will be developing, implementing, and maintaining appropriate policies, and standard operating procedures for regulatory compliance of research trials and studies being delivered by the University. As part of your role, you will also be:

• Providing proactive research governance support to researchers conducting human subject research
• Engaging with a range of colleagues within the University including Principal/Chief Investigators, researchers, professional services, and with the Chair of the ‘External Review and Sponsorship’ sub-Committee.
• Engaging with external agencies – Health Research Authority, Clinical Research Networks, NHS Trusts etc.
• Leading on the continued development of internal processes
• Championing and raising the profile of healthcare research/clinical trials for the university

About you:

With a good understanding of working within the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research, you will also be:

• A self-motivated individual and enjoys working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment often juggling conflicting priorities.
• Educated with a University science or medical degree, or equivalent experience.
• Experienced in HRA governance processes, including drafting of legally binding documents
• Knowledgeable of the Human Tissue Act
