Lancaster University invites applications for a Research Associate / Senior Research Associate position. This is a 24-month full-time post running from January 2023 (or possibly earlier by arrangement) but we would be open to considering other options, such as part-time working or job share arrangements.
You will be part of an interdisciplinary team working on a Research Development Award project funded by Wellcome. This innovative programme seeks to create exciting and original new research agendas and methods, with Speculative Design being one of them. You will have 20% of your project-time set aside for either professional development or to work on your own projects. The core team is drawn from six different disciplines (Dr Kirsty Dunn, Psychology; Prof Sara Fovargue, Law; Prof Elena Semino, Linguistics; Prof Emmanuel Tsekleves, Design; Prof Sharon Ruston, English Literature; Prof Stephen Wilkinson and Dr Nicola Williams, Philosophy). You will be based the Lancaster Institute for Contemporary Arts (Design) department.
The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is a dynamic and creative community of enquiry, learning and engagement, and particularly encourages interdisciplinary work and research which makes a positive difference beyond academia. It performed strongly in REF2021 and some of the departments involved in this project did particularly well. This project will complement and feed into Lancaster’s thriving ecosystem of interdisciplinary research and you will join a strong and growing research staff community with a highly active Research Staff Association .
