Research Associate: Investigation Into the Molecular Basis Underlying FGF21 Pathway Regulation of Heart Function

Heart failure is a serious comorbidity and the most common cause of mortality. Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) emerges as a stress hormone regulating metabolism in response to metabolic stress. This project will investigate the function of FGF21 pathway in the myocardium and provide new insights into novel therapeutic strategies for preventing heart failure. This full-time post from 01st January 2023 to 31st October 2024 will use various in vivo and in vitro models to investigate FGF21 and its receptor regulation of cardiac function and the potential treatment by targeting the pathway. The applicant should have or about to have a PhD, or equivalent, with a good understanding cardiovascular disease or metabolic disorder, ideally with a strong background in cellular and molecular biology. We are looking for a researcher who has experience in animal works, molecular biology, and cell culture.
