• 0.8 FTE fixed term until 31 October 2023

• Base Salary (pro-rata) $98,645- $105,305+ 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The Menzies Centre for Health Policy and Economics conducts health policy research, analysis, advice and education. The Centre’s focus is on improving public health outcomes through policy innovation and practical implementation. With a program of community engagement, the Centre encourages informed debate about how Australians can influence health policy to ensure that it is consistent with their values and priorities; policies that are able to deliver safe, high-quality health care that is sustainable in the long term.

The Centre has a particular interest in the policy conundrums posed by the growing challenge of chronic illness. Our research has demonstrated a strong commitment to patient centered outcomes.

We are looking for a Research Associate to support a broad range of health policy and economic research projects, which primarily arise from Government commissioned research. They will conduct research and/or scholarly activities under the limited supervision of senior academic staff, either independently or as part of a research team.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• assist with the preparation of grant submissions and tenders
• work closely with internal and external stakeholders
• contribute to policy analysis and health economic research
• project manage commissioned research projects
• conduct literature searches using relevant databases and software
• contribute to the writing and submission of research publications and reports
• undertake data analysis, including statistical analyses
• contribute to research development and capacity building activities

About you

• holds a relevant Masters degree eg. Public Health or Health Policy (&/or working towards or completed a PhD in a field related to public health)
• has experience with mixed methods research
• has an understanding of research ethics and governance processes

Desirable criteria

• has previous experience working in state or federal Government settings
• has experience in writing reports and publications
• has experience supporting research grant writing
• has experience in qualitative, quantitative and statistical analyses
• has experience working in a research intensive environment.
