The Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology ISIT is part of the Fraunhofer Society and works with approximately 190 employees at the locations Itzehoe and Kiel in a leading position with industry and research on a national and international level.

Our scientists develop power electronics systems, converters, and components (GaN and silicon), as well as silicon-based microsystems and high-performance battery-based energy storage systems.

What you will do

For our research group »Electronic Energy Systems« we are looking for a scientist for the development of new power converters and energy systems for hybrid grids. The position includes the following tasks: 

  • Modelling and control of hybrid grids 
  • Optimal energy management, including energy storage systems
  • PHiL testing 
  • Communication and collaborations internally and externally
  • Supporting role in scientific profiling through publications and acquisition of research and industrial projects

What you bring to the table

  • Completed scientific education (Master’s or PhD degree) in electrical engineering, power electronics, or a comparable qualification in a related field
  • Experience and knowledge in the areas of control and simulation of hybrid grids, including energy storage systems and management of decentralized generation
  • High degree of independence, initiative, and commitment. High curiosity and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new problems and to take responsibility in a team
  • Fluent written and spoken English

The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
