Summary

A research associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Theodore Wensel, located in the Verna and Marrs McLean Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The research focus is on molecular mechanisms of signal transduction.  Will plan, design and executes experiments, including cell-based assays of signaling and work with animals. The position requires the ability to work independently to design, conduct and analyze experiments, to write manuscripts and prepare presentations for meetings, and the ability to work within a team.

Job Duties

• Conduct independent research project.
• Plan, direct, and execute experiments aimed at validating therapeutic targets in cells and uncovering therapeutic target mechanism of action.
• Generate cell models to study the consequences of target inhibition and develop specific assays to monitor therapeutic target activity in cultured cells.
• Perform RNAseq and molecular biology approaches required to study target mechanism of action.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Basic Science or a related field.  Experience in lieu of degree will not be accepted.
• Three years of relevant experience typically as a Research Assistant, Research Technician or Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D.
• Experience with cell signaling.
