Job description

YouCount is a research project about the lives of European youth.  A team of researchers from nine European countries are working with young citizen scientists to find new solutions to local challenges producing positive change for youth. A Research Associate is required to provide advanced research leadership supporting and developing a research programme on citizen social science and youth inclusion.  The Research Associate will be a key member of the team leading on the recruitment of young citizen scientists, developing connections with key stakeholder groups and organisations, taking a lead role in developing and promoting the YouCount App, designing and delivering training with young citizen scientists and students, providing support to junior members of the team, and other relevant tasks as part of the research team. 

 

You must have previous experience of large-scale social research projects preferably of EU projects, working in participatory action research or a related field with young people, as well as substantial experience of undertaking qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies and have produced written research reports, articles and other publications to high academic standards.

 

The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in social research or equivalent in a related area. An understanding of ethical research governance, data protection issues and implications for research is essential and you should be IT literate with excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team.

 

Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview. This position is based in Preston, within the School of Social Work, Care and Community, the largest provider of social work education in the North-West and with an excellent record for research.
