The Learner and Academic Services (LAS) department’s role in student success is to create a culture and environment that unleashes the full potential of all the students at SAIT. The Opportunity
This research assistant will work directly with an instructor in Communication and Liberal Arts Studies who is conducting primary research (qualitative data collection) in a SAIT-supported Scholarly Activity project. The research assistant will prepare written and graphic work for data presentation; edit and fact-check written work (including checking APA citation). Funding for this position has been generously provided by the Lions Club through the ACIFA Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Award. 
Please note this position is for SAIT students only. 
The Role

    • Review synthesized secondary data and fact-check for accuracy against original academic work
    • Provide editing and fact-checking for written and presentation materials
    • Provide high-quality, consistent, uniform written work within a team of writers and researchers
    • Check APA citation for accuracy

Qualifications & Experience

    • Completion of and high standing in STAT4010 (SAIT course) and enrolled at SAIT throughout the project duration
    • Excellent remote working skills including time management, organization, problem-solving, and technical skills (use of Microsoft Office and Teams, plus recording and transcription program) 
    • Exceptional APA citation skills, 7th edition
    • Excellent reading comprehension of published academic work
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, focusing on academic writing style
    • Ability to interpret secondary data by identifying common themes and synthetizing ideas in written
    • Excellent teamwork skills and a desire to contribute to SAIT’s inclusion and diversity strategy
    • Priority given to BIWOC and LGBTQ+ candidates

Salary range: $17.95 per hour
