Research Assistant, Respirology

Primary Purpose:The Research Assistant is responsible for the overall coordination of research studies.  By supporting, facilitating, and coordinating daily activities, the research assistant plays a vital role in the conduct of the studies.   

Nature of Work:Reporting to Respirologist (Principal investigator) in the Department of Medicine, the research assistant would maintain good clinical practice in conducting research studies.  Work mainly takes place within an office and research laboratory at the University of Saskatchewan.  Decision making involved, assistance available if needed.  Occasional evening phone calls, no weekends.  Some flexibility in work hours, no shift work.

Typical Duties or Accountabilities:

  • Other duties may include submission of research projects to the University of Saskatchewan ethics board and obtaining SHA approval for projects. 

Education: Undergraduate degree in a health-related field is preferred; however, a combination of education and experience will be considered.  GCP training will be necessary – can be completed once hired. Transportation of dangerous goods training would be an asset.
 
Licenses: N/A

Experience: 2-4 years relevant clinical trial experience preferred, and knowledge of ethical conduct in carrying out both clinical/non-clinical research studies.  Able to work independently on day-to-day tasks.

Skills: Excellent organizational skills. Attention to detail essential. Proficiency with MS office.
