The MRC “CHANGE” study (Child malnutrition & Adult NCDs: Generating new Evidence on mechanistic links in Jamaica, Malawi & Ethiopia to inform future policy & practice) is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant or Research Fellow.
This is a short-term CHANGE sub-project working on secondary data analysis which will contribute to overall CHANGE project aims and is planned to result in a first-author paper for the post-holder.
The post holder will be based in London (with potential for short term trips to project site in Malawi) and will be responsible for:
1. Overall project management and coordination of the subproject;
2. Registering the analysis on ISRCTN database (the analysis is a quasi-RCT which is made possible due to rounding of rations for malnourished children);
3. Submitting an ethics committee amendment to analyse already available data;
4. Leading data analysis with guidance from project PI and project statistician;
5. Leading the writing of the paper and submitting to preprint/peer-review journal with the provisional title “Do large feed rations for severely malnourished children increase future risk of NCD?: a quasi RCT”.
Further particulars are included in the job description.
The post is 1 FTE available immediately until 31 March 2023 (part-time will also be considered).
The salary will be on the Academic scale, Grade 5 (Research Assistant) scale in the range £36,438-£41,829 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting) or Grade 6 (Research Fellow) scale in the range £41,829-£47,503 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
Applications should be made on-line via our website at http://jobs.lshtm.ac.uk. Online applications will be accepted by the automated system until 10pm of the closing date. Any queries regarding the application process may be addressed to jobs@lshtm.ac.uk.
The supporting statement section should set out how your qualifications, experience and training meet each of the selection criteria. Please provide one or more paragraphs addressing each criterion. The supporting statement is an essential part of the selection process and thus a failure to provide this information will mean that the application will not be considered. Please note that if you are shortlisted and are unable to attend on the interview date it may not be possible to offer you an alternative date.
