Research Assistant Professor – Stroke

The Department of Neurology at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Assistant Professor to work in the Vascular Neurology Division. The incumbent will work on exciting projects focused on cerebrovascular disease and especially post-stroke recovery. The position will entail serving as site-investigator and co-investigator for clinical/translational research studies, Additional duties will include writing and preparing manuscripts for scientific publication, participation in division meetings and active collaboration with other researchers in the division and in the department as a whole. Experience in teaching students at the undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate level is favored.  Candidates must have a terminal clinical or research degree (MD, DO, DVM, DPT, or PhD or equivalent in hand by the start date) and have published in peer-reviewed journals. Analytic and biostatistical skills will be considered important for this position. The candidate must have demonstrated expertise in neuroscience, stroke recovery research, and/or genetics/genomics research. The candidate must work independently and ethically, document all research data appropriately, apply for independent funding where applicable, and publish data in qualified journals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. The candidate should demonstrate potential to be trained as an independent investigator.

Education: Ph.D. or terminal degree. ABD may be accepted.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
