Research Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering (http://viterbi.usc.edu) seeks candidates for a research faculty position. This is a full-time, non-tenure track, benefits-eligible faculty position. This position is available starting January 1, 2023.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates should 1) have a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering (or equivalent), 2) have at least four years of research experience by the date of appointment, and 3) have sound technical skills for bioengineering research and be capable of drafting grant proposals and manuscripts.

Areas of Expertise:

Qualified candidates should have expertise in:

1) cellular and molecular engineering;

2) developing genetically-encoded reporters and multiplex imaging in live cells;

3) elucidating the mechanobiology of cells in their microenvironment;

4) immunoengineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Published peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals as the first author;

• Hands-on experience with molecular cloning, DNA library generation, FACS, and amplicon sequencing;

• Hands-on experience with the design and test of genetically-encoded reporters based on FRET;

• Hands-on experience with live cell imaging using genetically-encoded biosensors;

• Experts’ knowledge of the principles of immunoengineering and hands-on experience in T cell culture and gene engineering;

• Demonstrated ability to organize and supervise a team of multi-disciplinary graduate students on cooperative laboratory projects;

• Evidence of participation as Key/Senior personnel in successful grants and ability to write grant proposals.
