Hiring Salary: $18.39/ Hourly

 

This is a grant funded part time position working up to 10 hours/ week (25% FTE) for 6 months only. AWEI project ends March 31, 2023

 

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the assigned supervisor this position supports activities on a clinical trial designed to identify evidence-based approaches to increasing the representation of African American cancer survivors in a clinical trial. This position will work with the principal investigator and study staff at UTHSC and University of Alabama at Birmingham. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

 

  • Conducts telephone interviews using a qualitative interview guide developed by the project team.
  • Uploads recorded interviews to study database.
  • Collects quantitative data, as indicated from participants, and enter into a database.
  • Coordinates project activities with project staff and principal investigators.
  • Maintains email and phone communication to ensure a seamless implementation of project tasks, problem solving, and study-related tasks are completed timely.
  • Conducts literature reviews using various databases, research online for recruitment toolkits and provides a written summary of findings to present to the research team.
  • Maintain participant schedule calendar and reschedule study participants.
  • Other duties/special projects as assigned.

    Qualifications

     

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

    EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in one of the sciences. (Master’s Degree preferred ). (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

    EXPERIENCE: Combination of college course work and work experience to equal eight (8) years. Experience conducting qualitative interviews with adults, preferably with a chronic illness. (Experience in clinical research, preferred ).

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Ability to work independently and work with a study team.
    • Highly developed organizational skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time.
    • Must possess a high level of interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Comfort and skills as it relates to working with team members at institutions across the country
    • Comfort with quantitative/qualitative data collection
    • Fluency with research management and regulatory issues; strong personal drive and work ethic aimed towards personal and professional enrichment.  
    • A strong desire to learn and expand skills will be key to success in this position.
