Overview:

  • Full-time, Fixed Term for 12 months

  • Salary Level Academic A + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements

  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University

About the Role

As the Research Assistant will research and develop demonstrable prototypes in the advanced materials and anti-bacteria space. You will transfer up-to-date knowledge and expertise to different industrial sectors to support and foster future research opportunities. It is anticipated that new opportunities for collaboration on further research projects will be resulted from these events, promoting the value of both RMIT and the industry partners. This project involves practical hands-on experiments and prototype development. You will make significant contributions to the research output in high-impact publications and translational activities.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have the following Key Selection Criteria:

  • PhD in chemistry, physics, biology, or related areas.

  • Research experience in material synthesis, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, biology, and nanotechnology.

  • Experience in design nanostructures and nanomaterials.

  • Evidence of research output including publications, conference contributions and/or technical reports in the field.

  • Ability to generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government.

  • Ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment, including the demonstrated ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues, project team leaders, and industry partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage varying workloads and respond to changing priorities as required.

  • Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication skills.
