The Maternal and Newborn Health Group within the Faculty of Epidemiology and Population Health, linked to the MARCH Centre at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant or a Research Fellow in statistical programming/computer scientist to work on a project aimed at developing standardised guidance and tools for evaluating child growth and particularly for preterm and term infants. 

The post holder will lead on statistical programming of a statistical package/tools for classification of newborns and infants for wider use in identification of at-risk infants. In addition, contribute and support the appropriate use and application of the developed statistical package, and guidelines for growth standards in coordination with key stakeholders such as WHO and UNICEF.

The successful candidate must have a relevant MSc degree (Research Assistant) or PhD (Research Fellow) in a relevant field such as statistics, computer science, data science, either awarded or imminent, or equivalent training. They will be expected to lead and contribute to peer-reviewed outputs. 

The post is full time, funded for one year with the possibility for an extension, and is available to start immediately.

The salary will be on the Academic scale, Research Assistant (range £36,438 – £41,829 per annum) or Research Fellow (range £41,829 – £47,503 per annum) inclusive of London weighting. The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, inclusive. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
