About the Role
The Research Assistant will undertake research in the area of neurological conditions in particular stroke. They will also assist with submission of research grant applications and ethics applications

Responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to specific current and planned neurology research projects, in particular the Fit 4 Me After Stroke Trial
  • Working closely with relevant staff to screen and recruit potential research participants.
  • Communicating with participants, scheduling required assessments and intervention sessions.
  • Conducting intervention sessions as outlined in the relevant research protocol.
  • Assisting with maintenance of study tracking programs, obtaining and verifying medical record data, preparing reports on progress of participants’ recruitment and progress through research trials.


About You
You will bring your sound written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders. You will have demonstrated ability to use initiative, good problem solving, judgement and organisational skills coupled with the ability to follow through detailed projects effectively.

You will also have:

  • Physiotherapy registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority (AHPRA) or Exercise Physiology accreditation through Exercise and Sprots Science Australia (ESSA).
  • Minimum 3 years clinical experience working with people with neurological conditions.
  • Excellent computer skills particularly with Microsoft Word, Excel, and power point.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team to achieve project goals and meet agreed deadlines.
