Overview

The Research Assistant / KTP Associate will be a highly motivated individual keen on building Artificial Intelligence (AI) Methods for automated analysis of images and video datasets.  This is a collaborative Knowledge Transfer Project (KTP) between Carl ZeissTM and the Draviam and Martin-Duran Laboratories at Queen Mary University of London, where the candidate will help bring an existing software tool ‘SpinX’ to the market.

About the role

You will have a PhD (or be close to completion) or MsC in Computer science or Computational biology or a closely allied subject with experience in either developing AI/ML solutions or Computational image analysis methods.  Experience in management or development of software codes relevant to image analysis is essential, and some experience in Deep Learning models will be valuable. The candidate will be strongly supported to build research fellowship applications and/or industry collaborations.

SpinX is a software for reconstructing gaps between successive frames by combining Deep Learning and mathematical object modelling. SpinX can track spindles and cell cortex in single-cells; the candidate will generalise SpinX by collating new microscopy movies and adapting the SpinX software code for multiple cellular environments.
