Research Assistant in Clinical Neurosciences

This post will be situated within the Neuromusculoskeletal Health and Science Lab at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences and will be supervised by A/Prof Annina Schmid. The successful applicant will assist with the recruitment and data collection of two prospective longitudinal cohorts of patients with sciatica and whiplash who will be followed over time to determine factors that predict the transition from acute to chronic pain. They will work closely with researchers and PhD students in the NMHS Lab.
The work will include fostering of recruitment pathways and data collection. A close collaboration with primary/secondary care will be required to maintain successful recruitment pathways. The position will include contact with patients to organise study appointments, help with MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) appointments and coordination of follow up questionnaires. Some flexibility with working patterns would be desirable. There will also be opportunities for participation in data analysis if the applicant shows and interest
You will have a first degree (preferably in a clinical speciality such as nursing, allied health), together with some relevant experience. You will also have sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes, and it is vital you have the ability to develop productive interactions with other scientists at the University of Oxford and other institutes. Experience of working in a clinical research environment is a desirable.
The post is part time (40%FTE) for a fixed term of 2 years in the first instance.
