All About You
Our NIH-funded laboratory is seeking enthusiastic research technicians to study the immunological response and pathogenesis of viral infections. We ask fundamental questions about viral infections and vaccination to understand how and why individuals get sick, and how to protect them. Our laboratory uses in vitro and in vivo approaches to understand infection and disease. Techniques include molecular biology, protein biochemistry, cell/tissue culture, flow cytometry, and mouse models of infection. Experience in one or more of these techniques and areas is strongly preferred. You will be a critical member of a research team, where you will be provided with the mentorship and resources to grow and be successful.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics
Designs and conducts biomedical research experiments, including standard laboratory and molecular biology techniques, work with pathogenic viruses, and animal models of viral infection.
Knowledge of the use and preparation of culture media, chemicals, and reagents
Supervisory skills
Independently evaluates own research findings and communicates these to the laboratory team, PI, and collaborators.
Prepares and delivers oral research at weekly laboratory meetings.
Maintains conformity with ethical standards in research, including rules governing human subjects research and animal care and use.
Maintains compliance with good laboratory practice, including the maintenance of adequate research records.
Adheres to all applicable University policies, procedures, and regulations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Assists with research projects; including maintaining culture media, reagents, and experimental animals.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate with laboratory staff and investigators.
Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
Provides for data entry and current data files on research projects. Monitors data to ensure consistent quality.
May perform preliminary statistical analysis of data.
Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Science or related field. Broad knowledge involving laboratory techniques or other specialized knowledge is desired.
