Research Administration Officer (maternity cover)

Full-time maternity cover post, fixed-term for 12 months.

We are seeking to appoint an organized, efficient, and pro-active individual to join our Research Finance team. This role is pivotal and supports the full research funding cycle, from preparation of applications right through to assisting our Principal Investigators and individual research groups with a complete post-award financial management service. This position is offered as a 12-month full-time maternity cover.

The role interfaces between (i) academic staff in the department, (ii) Research Services and Research Accounts in the central University Administration and Services and (iii) all external funding agencies. You will work under the line management of the Research Facilitation & Administration Manager, and responsibilities will include preparation of costings and providing advice and information to Principal Investigators throughout the applications process, support funding award set-up, and undertake regular monitoring of grants once awarded to ensure funder conditions are being met, ensuring that all spend is in line with University financial controls. and funder rules. You will use a variety of electronic systems, databases, and funder portals, and be able to multi-task and prioritize work without close supervision.

You will be educated to A-Level standard or equivalent, demonstrate interest in, and awareness of, the higher education research environment, have excellent communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, coherent, effective and persuasive written communication. You should also have the ability to liaise effectively with a range of people, at all levels, within and beyond the University. Successful applicants will be able to tale a calm and organized approach, and demonstrate excellent attention to detail, whilst operating within a busy environment to meet deadlines.

The post is available immediately and will be based in the Sherrington Building, Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3PT.
