This position is a part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).
In accordance with the Temporary Librarian, Administrative and Professional Staff (TLAPO) Agreement , this part time temporary position (0.5 FTE) has a prorated annual salary range of $35,467.50 – $58,892.50. This position is not eligible for benefits. This position has an initial appointment commencing approximately mid-May 2024 and ending early January 2025 (negotiable).
This is a temporary position covering a parental leave, commencing approximately mid-May 2024. Work will be part time 0.5 FTE (22 hours per week).
Location: This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person and work primarily located at North Campus, Edmonton.

Working for the Department
The Office of Advocacy and Wellbeing in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry looks after issues pertaining to the health and wellbeing of learners, residents, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows within the Faculty. The Office provides counseling on academic and personal matters, and advocates for learners and residents. Our aim is to help ensure that undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate learners are not distracted by health matters and are able to perform to the best of their abilities.
Position Summary
Working with the Associate Dean, Office of Advocacy and Wellbeing, the Registered Psychologist is responsible for providing effective and efficient professional psychological services to the University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry undergraduate, graduate student and resident population. The Registered Psychologist delivers counseling to students and residents who are experiencing personal adjustment and/or psychological problems that require professional attention.
Duties
The Registered Psychologist is the major provider of psychological services to the student population in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. Although therapy (individual, couple, and group) and crisis intervention services are emphasized, the Registered Psychologist conducts consultative training to University faculty and staff on psychological issues, may present workshops and in services to staff and students, and offers critical incident debriefs to those affected by distressing events which may take place.
The Registered Psychologist position implements psychologically based research and practice; participates in the OAW case review team; may assist in strategic planning and other initiatives for the Office of Advocacy and Wellbeing; participates and collaborates with other services on campus and off campus in order to facilitate the care and treatment of learners.
