Registered Nurse OR Circulator 5/8s 630-1500

The Registered Nurse specializing in peri-operative nursing practice performs nursing activities in the peri-operative, intraopertive, and postoperative phase of the patient’s surgical experience.  Peri-operative nursing provides continuity of care designed to meet individual patient needs through the nursing process.

While the peri-operative nurse works in collaboration with other health professionals to determine and meet patient needs, the nurse has primary responsibility and accountability for the nursing care of patients having surgical intervention.  Participates on teams created to improve outcome quality through process improvement and team technologies.

 

Qualifications

 

• Must have current Alabama license to practice as a Registered Nurse.  A BS degree in nursing is desirable.
• At least one year of
  surgical experience with ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology emphasis is
  preferred, although one or more years experience in a critical care
  setting is acceptable.
• BLS certification required by the end of employee provisional period. ACLS and PALS certification required within one year of employment.
• Provides quality patient
  care for the needs of the populations served and age specific groups as
  indicated: 
• pediatric (>1 – 12 years)
• adolescent (>12 – 17 years)
• adult (>17 – 65 years)
• geriatric
  (>65 years)
