Job Summary

Under general supervision, guided by the policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the physician staff, the Clinical Nurse II performs established nursing procedures using clinical knowledge to care for patients.   They consistently project a professional and courteous demeanor.  The Clinical Nurse II shall comply with the Medical Center house and Telephone Standards.

Required Qualifications

• One or more years of clinical hemodialysis experience (outpatient or inpatient).
• Six months hemodialysis experience in a pediatric setting
• The motivation to become a participant on a team dedicated to effective, safe patient care.
• Aptitude for care of the patient with renal failure.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and families
• Exposure and/or hands-on experience with computers, familiar with Microsoft Work, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
• This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in both acute and outpatient chronic dialysis
• Specialty certification in nephrology nursing (CNN)
• College level degree in Nursing (BSN, MSN) from an Accredited School of Nursing.

License/Certification

• Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
• Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
• Active American Heart Association PALS Certification
