Job Summary

Regional Cancer Center Ambulatory Services and Infusion Unit

This position offers the opportunity to deliver care in a regional satellite cancer practice.  The nurse in this environment is part of a dynamic team focused on the coordination and delivery of care through patient teaching, assessment and triage, administration of chemotherapy and supportive therapies.  

The Outpatient Oncology Clinical Nurse II serves in a leadership role and delivers direct patient care to an adult Oncology population at a multi-specialty regional UCSF Cancer Center site, guided by the policies and procedures of Ambulatory Services.

This nurse is experienced and highly skilled with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the cancer disease process, the major treatment modalities, symptom management, supportive care, and patient education.  At this operational level, the nurse proactively embraces the Oncology Nursing Society/Standards of Oncology Nursing practice to utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care.  The nurse utilizes an interdisciplinary approach across the continuum of care with adherence to National Patient Safety Goals set forth by regulatory requirements.  The nurse is recognized and utilized as a clinical resource and demonstrates investment in the overall forward movement of the unit and the organization. 

This position requires the flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations as needed.

Department Description

The UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is an accredited National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center. The NCI-Designation recognizes the scientific leadership, resources, and the depth and breadth of the research in basic, clinical and population science. As a Comprehensive Cancer Center, we demonstrate the added depth and breadth of research as well as substantial transdisciplinary research that bridges these scientific areas. The clinical services encompass adult and pediatric tumors across three campuses as well as regional satellite locations. The clinical cancer program is one of the largest clinical services at UCSF Medical Center and encompasses roughly 230 non-physician FTEs, 90+ cost center, and dozens of grant and philanthropic funding sources. At the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center we are truly pioneering care and leaders in all areas of cancer clinical care and research. Required Qualifications

• Two (2) or more years of recent RN adult clinical Oncology Nursing experience
• Current Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certification
• Experience administering chemotherapy/biotherapy
• Knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to this position
• The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations

Preferred Qualifications

• Three (3) or more years of adult Oncology Nursing experience.
• OCN Certification or other relevant specialty certification
• Membership in professional organizations is recommended

License/Certification

• Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California Active
• American Heart Association CPR Certification
