Description

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Development, the Regional Giving Officer is an integral member of the Institutional Advancement team. This individual is assigned to specific geographic regions and responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts from individuals with the ability to give $50,000 or more to support the mission of the University.  Representing all of Temple University, this individual will establish collaborative partnerships with all schools and units, stay abreast of the recent developments, priorities, and fundraising initiatives throughout all of Temple, and effectively communicate about and engage individuals in the mission of Temple and/or the respective units based on the prospect’s philanthropic interests. This individual will collaborate with the regional representatives within Alumni Relations to create better engagement opportunities within that geographic region and perceptually lessen the distance between Temple and geographically removed areas.  As a member of the central team of Institutional Advancement, this individual will coordinate prospect and gift pipeline strategies for fundraising priorities that are University based and/or cross several units.  As Temple embarks on a comprehensive campaign, this individual will identify volunteer leadership and drive the regional fundraising campaigns that will contribute to Temple’s campaign’s overall success.  

The Regional Giving Officer will meet or exceed annual visit, solicitation, and dollar goals to be defined each year in their performance development plan and will do so with a high degree of professionalism, initiative, and creativity.  Performs other duties as assigned.

This person must be a highly energetic, organized, flexible and enthusiastic professional with a track record of closing major gifts, comfortable working autonomously, achieving performance-related metric goals, building donor relationships, working collaboratively and strategically with colleagues, and possessing a strong knowledge of the principles, ethics and practices of successful fund raising.

This position will cover the New York, Connecticut, and Boston region.  This person will need to be local to Temple University and can expect regular travel to the assigned region.

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required and at least 5 years related experience, preferred experience in higher education setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.  

Required Skills & Abilities:
•    Demonstrated ability to successfully manage a portfolio of donors in the 5-, 6-, 7-figure level that resulted in increased giving.
•    Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects or assignments simultaneously. 
•    Ability to interface effectively with high wealth donors, senior staff members, verbally, in writing, and through professional interpersonal skills. 
•    Ability to bring creativity and effective strategies for a personal contact and solicitation plan that considers the individual donor’s interest, motivations, giving patterns and asks preferences, for each donor in his or her portfolio, in a timely and cost-effective manner. 
•    Ability to develop and sustain collaborative and supportive relationships with internal and external colleagues and prospects and maintain a positive and constructive attitude while solving problems.  
•    Ability to professionally represent and protect the mission, goals, and values of Temple University.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
