The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is an intergovernmental organization founded to support and promote a model of economic growth known as “green growth,” which targets key aspects of economic performance such a poverty reduction, job creation, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability. GGGI works with countries around the world, building their capacity and working collaboratively on green growth policies that can impact the lives of millions. The organization partners with countries, multilateral institutions, government bodies, and the private sector to help build strong economies that are more efficient and sustainable in the use of natural resources, less carbon intensive, and more resilient to climate change. GGGI supports stakeholders through complementary and integrated workstreams that deliver comprehensive products designed to assist in developing, financing, and mainstreaming green growth in national economic development plans.
GGGI has a diverse portfolio of programs in developing countries and emerging economies around the world. These in-country programs, together with global products and services, focus on delivering results through an integrated approach of evidence-based green growth planning and implementation aligned to countries’ development priorities. GGGI has a unique in-country presence and prominent role as a neutral, trusted advisor and strategic development partner embedded in Member and partner governments. This special arrangement or positioning sets GGGI apart from other international development and environmental development partners that collectively serve the green growth agenda.
The role will focus on contributing to regional campaign strategy, audience engagement, and narrative development, ensuring that communication efforts across countries are aligned, data-driven, and impactful. The Senior Associate will work closely with country teams, Partnerships, MEL and technical staff, and global communications teams to transform programmatic results into compelling regional campaigns and knowledge products.
She/he will support the development of tailored messages for specific audiences, strengthen engagement with media, counterparts, and donors, and support high-quality communication deliverables aligned with project implementation. Additionally, the role ensures compliance with GGGI’s communication requirements while enhancing visibility through digital and traditional media, contributing to the Global Communication and Knowledge Sharing Strategy. The position will be based in Mexico City, México, or Bogotá, Colombia, where GGGI LAC has its largest offices.
The Regional Communications Senior Associate plays a key role in contributing to strategically positioning GGGI’s brand at the regional level by supporting the design, coordination, and execution of strategic communication campaigns across the region, strengthening the organization’s visibility, positioning, and influence.
The Regional Communications Senior Associate is expected to:
Directly report to the MEL Officer in the LAC Regional Office and work closely with the LAC Regional Director.
Collaborate with country communication focal points to design, adapt, and scale campaigns across countries.
Work closely with MEL teams to identify insights, evidence, and results that can inform campaigns and storytelling.
Collaborate with regional leadership, technical teams, and project managers to ensure communications are strategically aligned with program goals.
Coordinate with global communications teams to align messaging and amplify regional initiatives globally.
Build and maintain relationships with media, communications teams in partner and, donor organization and with regional stakeholders to strengthen outreach and campaign impact.
Guide and support country teams in maintaining brand consistency and quality assurance across all communication outputs.
The Communications Senior Associate is an G7 grade level in GGGI’s Colombia/Mexico national salary scale. The salary range for the position starts at USD 23,239 (Colombia) and USD 32,096 (Mexico) per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. GGGI provides 15% of base salary towards retirement plan/long-term savings, 27 days of annual leave, and private health insurance that covers dental and vision.
