The Writing and Society Research Centre, which sits within the School of Humanities and Communication Arts, is unique in Australia in combining research through both literary scholarship and creative practice. The Centre places a high value on public engagement through seminars and conferences, publications and literary events. It makes a direct contribution to Australian literature, through Giramondo Publishing and the online critical journal Sydney Review of Books, its international collaborations and the mentoring of writers from the Western Sydney region.

The Writing and Society Research Centre are seeking a highly motivated Digital Communications Officer with experience in online publishing and a thorough knowledge of contemporary literature to manage the Sydney Review of Books production. The Sydney Review of Books was founded by the Centre at the beginning of 2013, as an online journal devoted to literary criticism in essay form. It has since established a national and international reputation for its critical essays with major funding from the Australia Council and other arts funding bodies.

The successful applicant will provide technical and design expertise in the development and maintenance of the SRB web presence. They will be responsible for a weekly publication schedule and for producing a high quality digital archive of SRB public events and multi-media projects.

This is a part-time (0.4 FTE), fixed-term position for one year based at the Parramatta City Campus, 6 Hassall St.

Remuneration Package: HEW 6 at the full-time equivalent rate of $100,670 to $107,945 p.a. (comprising Salary of $85,067 to $91,215 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading). The appointee will be paid pro-rata at 0.4 FTE (remuneration package of $40,268 to $43,178 p.a.).
