The School of Health Sciences is educating tomorrow’s graduates in an environment that is contemporary, challenging, and adaptive to a rapidly evolving world. Our teaching programs are intrinsically interdisciplinary and cover a broad range of professional and other disciplines in the clinical and non-clinical health sciences, and in sport-related disciplines. These areas are underpinned by a strong focus on research and research led teaching, which involves partnerships with a range of external organisations. Our programs include undergraduate degrees, Honours degrees, coursework Masters programs, and higher degree research programs (Masters and PhD). All the health science programs combine strong interprofessional health competencies common to all health science professionals and specialist discipline practice.

About you and the role

We are seeking a forward thinking, dynamic, and innovative scholar to take on a role at the level of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Sport Development, Leisure, and Recreation and to contribute to our undergraduate and postgraduate programs in this area.

Specifically, you will have expertise and experience in one or preferably a combination of the following areas, with an ability to teach into general areas of sport development, recreation, leisure, and health.

  • Sport development, leisure, and recreation across education, health, and human service settings
  • Development of sport and sport for development
  • Leisure and its parameters, particularly in the use of sport and active recreation in achieving community health, community development, and inclusion outcomes
  • Sociological and cultural aspects of sport, leisure, recreation, and health
  • Outdoor and adventure spaces and practices, and their relationship to health and wellbeing

In this position you will be expected to be involved in a range of academic activities including the coordination and teaching of subjects in our Sport Development and Recreational Therapy programs. You will be expected to conduct research and supervise, where appropriate, undergraduate (Honours) and postgraduate (Masters and PhD) students in their area of expertise. You will work closely with research and teaching staff in the School of Health Sciences and will be encouraged to develop collaborations across the wider University. You will also be required to foster relevant relationships external to the University.

There are two full-time, ongoing positions based at either the Parramatta or Kingswood campus with the ability to travel to other campuses as required to support multi-campus activities.

Remuneration Package:

  • Academic Level B – $127,812 to $150,817p.a. (comprising Salary of $108,003 to $127,531 p.a., plus 17% Superannuation and Leave Loading).
  • Academic Level C – $155,383 to $178,242 p.a. (comprising Salary of $131,433 to $150,971 p.a., plus 17% Superannuation and Leave Loading).
