ROLE of the POSITION

Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Student Success, the Recruitment and Admissions Coordinator is responsible for researching, developing, and implementing detailed annual recruitment plans for the hospitality undergraduate program working in conjunction with the UNLV Undergraduate Admission Office.  This requires a keen awareness of market trends, demographic shifts and recruitment strategies and technologies being utilized by competing institutions, as well as the ability to synthesize this information to make appropriate determinations of strategies to be employed in specific recruitment territories.  The Coordinator must also possess the ability to establish a strong rapport with colleagues in the college and across campus, as well as supervise a team of student ambassadors.  The Recruitment and Admissions Coordinator will annually collect, monitor, and analyze student enrollment data and conversion rates at all points of the admission funnel and give periodic reports to assistant and associate deans.  This position will also monitor all travel cost projections and expenditure tracking for both in and out-of-state recruitment travel.

The Coordinator will also be charged with developing and ensuring the implementation of all recruitment plans for targeted populations, including but not limited to the Multicultural Recruitment Plan, High Ability Recruitment Plan. These will be assessed and updated annually.

The Recruitment and Admissions Coordinator will maintain a high level of internal and external public contact serving as a liaison between the Harrah College of Hospitality, the UNLV Office of Admissions, other organizations within the University, and with public constituents.  The Recruitment and Admissions Coordinator is responsible for outreach efforts for the recruitment of all undergraduate students for the Harrah College of Hospitality.  These efforts include, but are not limited to, the following:  admissions presentations, hosting workshops for prospective students and families, participating in on- and off-campus recruitment events to provide admission assistance/guidance, meeting with prospective students and families on campus, making calls to prospects and inquiries for admission counseling and proactively communicating with admitted students to encourage and ensure matriculation.  The Coordinator will articulate eligibility for admission based on the ability to understand and interpret NSHE and UNLV policy.

Finally, this position is responsible for providing leadership in carrying out special initiatives as assigned by leadership team in the college and will be expected to travel both in and out of state and work irregular hours and weekends.

The College offers a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management with concentrations in Event Design and Management, Gaming Management, Hospitality Beverage Management, Human Resource Management, Innovative Restaurant Management, and PGA Golf Management; a Master of Hospitality Administration; a Master of Science in Hotel Administration; and a Doctor of Philosophy in Hospitality Administration. In addition, the College offers two dual degrees: a Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Hotel Administration; and a Master of Science in Hotel Administration and Master of Science in Information Management Systems.

In the Fall of 2021, the College enrolled 1,469 undergraduate students, 195 graduate students (70 MHA, 98 HOA and dual programs, and 27 doctoral students). The College has approximately 38 full-time faculty members (including tenured, tenure track, faculty in residence, and lecturers), 8 classified staff, and 31 professional staff. In addition, in any given semester, there are approximately 15+ part-time instructors.

The College believes that partnering with industry is key to student success. Each year, the College organizes hundreds of internships, welcomes more than 100 national hospitality brands for recruitment events, and pairs an average of 175 industry mentors with students. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 3 to 5 years of relevant experience as it relates to student engagement, recruitment, and customer service.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

This position prefers a master’s degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 3 to 5 years of relevant experience preferably direct undergraduate student recruitment for a regionally accredited public or private 4-yr R-1 institution.
