The MSc in Applied Computing (MScAC) program is a high-quality complement to the graduate research programs (MSc/PhD) offered by the Department of Computer Science. As a program, we collaborate with seven other departments and faculties to provide a diverse offering of concentrations. The departments and faculties include Cell and Systems Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistical Sciences, Physics and the Faculties of Medicine and Engineering. Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Associate Director, MScAC Administration, this role is critical to developing effective recruitment and admissions efforts for the MSc in Applied Computing program.The incumbent will be responsible for developing and executing on strategies and initiatives to help advance recruitment objectives in both local and international markets. This will include representing the University of Toronto, the Department of Computer Science and the MScAC program in a positive way, and working with a breadth of internal and external stakeholders. It will also include engaging with prospective and admitted students at various stages in the Recruitment and Admissions cycle. Additionally, the Recruitment and Admissions Officer will be an active participant in the admissions process, conducting applicant pre-screening, applicant interviews, and supporting various admissions functions at peak times.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing recruitment strategies and plans based on detailed data analysis and research of market trends.
• Developing and maintaining networks of external contacts to support recruitment strategies.
• Determining and building partnerships with appropriate contacts and institutions in local and international markets.
• Conceptualizing, organizing and promoting the program at internal and external events, both virtually and in-person.
• Delivering student recruitment presentations and developing country/concentration specific content for marketing or promotional materials, in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team.
• Evaluating the effectiveness of campaigns and initiatives using metrics.
• Advising potential applicants, students, and additional parties on the range of options available through MScAC, as well as the admissions criteria and processes.
• Applying established standards, policies and procedures when administering admissions processes applicable to application evaluation.

Essential Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or acceptable combination of education and recent and equivalent experience.
• Minimum four years of recent and relevant experience in recruitment and admissions, preferably for a masters program with an industry oriented component in the fields of Computer Science, Business Administration, or Engineering.
• Strong familiarity with current issues and trends in student recruitment, student life and student communications.
• Experience identifying and developing plans and strategies to maximize recruitment opportunities in both potential and existing markets of interest.
• Experience promoting academic programs and recruiting post-graduate students, including experience in developing, organizing, and representing academic programs at domestic and international student-focused events, such as program information sessions and international recruitment fairs.
• Excellent public speaking skills, including delivering compelling student recruitment presentations for a variety of audiences.
• Experience building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders relevant to student recruitment including prospective students, current students and alumni.
• Experience building and maintaining long-term strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as all levels of faculty & staff, universities, funding/government agencies and partner firms.
• Experience writing marketing correspondence and preparing student recruitment presentations.
• Demonstrated experience analyzing data and preparing statistical and written reports for decision making.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience interpreting student & academic policies, regulations, and procedures.
• Experience screening candidates to academic programs to determine and confirm program eligibility and fit.
• Strong applied skills in MS Office Suite and database management tools, such as Airtable.
• Working knowledge of related student services applications, including ROSI and ACORN.
• Strong leadership skills with excellent judgement, strategic thinking and decision making abilities.
• Superior organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure, meet competing priorities and deadlines, and adapt to change.
• Demonstrated superior customer service skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.

Assets (Nonessential):

• Knowledge of the MScAC program.
• Demonstrated knowledge of recruitment trends and competitors in the Computer Science professional program field.

USW Pay Band 12 — $78,308 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $100,144. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
